The Arboretum is a residential area in the historic city of Nottingham. It is an area best known for its public park, the Arboretum, and the park itself has been awarded a Green Flag for its positive impact on the local environment. It is the nearest public park to Nottingham city centre.

The Arboretum was the first public park to be created in Nottingham, and English Heritage has also recognized the importance of several areas of the park. Its bell tower, aviary and bandstand are Grade II listed structures.

South of the Arboretum is Nottingham city centre, and to the north is Mapperley Park, Sherwood Rise and New Basford. To the west is Radford and to the east is the St. Ann’s district. The city of Nottingham is a short distance away, with attractions such as Nottingham Castle, the Lace Market, and the oldest pub in England, the Jerusalem Inn.

There are several notable attractions in the Arboretum area, including the famous Goose Fair and Nottingham Pride. Nottingham’s famous annual Goose Fair is held at the Forest Recreation Ground, which is a short distance north west of the Arboretum. The travelling fair takes place in the city every October, and began in the 13th Century. Another annual event in the area is Nottingham Pride. Held in the Arboretum in July, this festival aims to promote a more positive attitude towards the gay and lesbian community. The event includes art and music stalls.

Both the impressive Victoria Shopping Centre and The Trent Polytechnic, in Burton Street, are situated to the south of the Arboretum. Many local streets in the Arboretum area are named after famous people, including Shakespeare Street, Chaucer Street and Cromwell Street.
